Do you worry?

About your next project or your relationship? Life?
Have you noticed that we take astoundingly little action from the pace of worry?
It can feel like a massive foggy cloud takes all your attention.
You get consumed by thoughts that feel very important at the time.
When the foggy cloud passes, you wonder, what have I actually done about it? The answer is somewhere between "not much" and "nothing".
The cloud took up your disk space, and then there was hardly any energy left to take action.

Does that sound familiar?

People come to me hoping for a magic solution to their problem that lies somewhere outside their world. When I reveal it to them, they are often shocked to see how obvious it is and how it was there all along. Bindingly obvious. Fascinating. We often cannot see clearly, especially when worry clouds our insight.

If we were to break this down into a 3-step process, it would look like this:
1) Notice: am I in worry mode? i.e: Do my thoughts feel heavy, very important and real to me?
2) Feel: am I in a happy, light space, or does life feel like a drag?
3) Shift: do something completely different- exercise, sleep, have sex, take the kids to the park and uplift.
4) From a space of relaxed clarity, ask yourself again what you really need to be doing next.
5) Take that easy action!

That was 5 steps.
You see, I don’t really believe in 3-step processes anyway.
