THE POWER TO CREATE

To me, power is about our ability to create.
Do you want more ability to create? Read on.

I’m seeing the discussions on Bezos - he has the power to create great work environments and fair conditions. Why didn’t he? Why do we still admire rich and influential people even if they clearly don’t show a lot of care for the greater good?
Does power mean you have to use it well? Superman taught us that “with power comes responsibility.”

If you are a leader who wants to create collaboration, a strong go-get-it type of power, as much as it’s a great motivational injection at the right moment, will have you disconnected from the team in no time. Your ability to empathise, feel and relate is far more important.

If power is about your ability to influence and shape the course of events, clearly, we must take the skills of relating, connecting and communicating with impact into the equation.

Amazon has amassed a lot of money and created a second-to-none service for its customers but unfortunately, at the cost of its workers and the environment. Would it not be more powerful to create a more effective win-win for everyone?
